La Paz, 16 February 2016.- In an emotional ceremony in the Central area Kupini, closing the project “Health Prevention and Environmental Care in Four Districts of San Antonio Macro District” was held was attended municipal authorities, staff Sumaj Huasi, EDUCO and residents of the areas of intervention Foundation.
The project was funded by EDUCO executed by the Sumaj Huasi Foundation in coordination with the Autonomous Municipal Government of La Paz, benefiting three areas of the Macro San Antonio District of the city of La Paz.
Through a process of sensitization and training helped to reduce infectious diseases of the population especially in children under five caused by the presence of solid waste on public roads, black and gray water, sources of infection
in housing and consumption of unsafe water.
The project development was participatory where neighborhood associations, women’s groups, school boards, student teaching staff, children and youth, the District Directorate of Education and the Autonomous Municipal Government of La Paz became involved through the Municipal Department of Environmental Management , Unit hostels and Municipal Shelters, the Special Directorate of Integrated Risk Management (DEGIR), SIREMU and TERSA Company, having achieved positive results for the benefit of residents.
During the ceremony neighbors, directors of educational units and local environmental advocates expressed their gratitude to the institutions that made possible the implementation of the project “living the courses has served as an experience to know how to treat water, recycle, we learned many things at this point I can not say that there are many things, I also thank the project now have composting toilets, now we know how we should treat waste “stated beneficiary of ecological toilets Callapa area.
Meanwhile Juan Carlos Suntura, Project Coordinator of Sumaj Huasi, expressed his satisfaction at having worked with different actors in this process of awareness, socialization and dissemination of environmental messages to improve the quality of life for residents of Macro District San Antonio city of La Paz having demonstrated the willingness and commitment of support to carry out the planned project activities and achieving very positive results.
Meanwhile Juan Pablo Larrea Educo representative expressed his appreciation for the support for carrying out the project, “the trainees move on to transmit what they learned to the project will not stay there” Larrea said.
During the event the signing of minutes of commitment to the sustainability of the project with Educational Units and Neighborhood Councils of the three areas of intervention, in order to continue the project through socialization, awareness and dissemination of environmental messages through was conducted school environmental promoters, neighborhood and local operators in plumbing and electricity.
